Why?

This website is specifically designed to encourage teachers to incorporate contructivist science experiences for children across the curriculum. We are advocating to help educators integrate science within their classroom's, specifically to the life cycle of a butterfly. Parents are also encouraged to participate in science activities at home with their child(ren) and experience the constructivist approach within the science curriculum.

The life cycle of any living thing will interest and capture the attention of all children. Children at a young age are naturally curious and ask many questions about their world and the things that puzzle them (Full Day Early Learning kindergarten Program, 2011). Within this website you will be able to explore some activities regarding the life cycle of a butterfly that can be integrated in the classroom or at home. Throughout this website you will also see that each activity integrates specific developmental domains (taken from the full day early learning kindergarten program document), to encourage enhancement of skills as well as the use of creativity and imagination. you will have the opportunity to see how exactly these activities work in the environment and explore a constructivist approach in regards to the biology exploration of the living butterfly life cycle.
